Every Rocketship school is committed to creating a positive environment for its students. The teachers work hard to instill a positive outlook in all their students. Each school has five core values that are paramount in their daily operation.
All Rocketship Schools share four of these values, but the parents and teachers at each school are allowed to pick the fifth value. This encourages parents to become more involved in their children’s education and form a close relationship with the teachers.
The core values of Rocketship Education schools are respect, empathy, responsibility, and persistence. Children begin to learn these noble ideals from their first day in school, and this sets them up nicely for their future education. The fifth core value is also as important as the rest; one school, Rocketship United Academy, chose gratitude as their value; and according to the teachers, the students have embraced it whole-heartedly, and they are actively participating in the activities meant to teach gratitude.
One of the things that make Rocketship Schools unique is the level to which parents participate in the schools’ operations. Rocketship is the only place where parents take part in interviewing teachers before they are hired.
Parents are also encouraged to hold the teachers and school leaders accountable; parents are involved in all major school undertakings, such as the construction of new school buildings.
The organization’s schools have been performing really well in tests. The teachers have integrated technology into traditional teaching methods, and this approach has really paid off.
Students with special needs receive extra attention, and they have a specialized curriculum designed to meet these needs. This enables them to keep up with their peers.
Rocketship Education provides much-needed learning opportunities for low-income families. It is only a matter of time before they open a school in every state.
